'Malaria Run' by RC Westlands
Invitation to RCs in Kenya to participate
By Nicholas O. Oguge, president RC Westlands
The Rotary Club of Westlands Nairobi wishes to engage other Rotary Clubs in the country to organize a run on Sunday 17 May 2009 from 07.00 to 11.00 am. The run will be to raise funds in the fight against malaria, a major killer in the region. We call it the Malaria Run. We wish to make the Run as part of the 84th District 9200 Conference and Assembly. Theobjective is to step up awareness and fight the killer disease. It will mark the beginning of the Malaria project, which is aimed at providing treated nets to Malaria prone areas.
This is a request to rotary clubs to:
- Sponsor at least 200 nets each, and
- To help in getting sponsorship for the initiative. Such sponsorship may be in form of bed nets, money, t-shirts, water...etc
- To nominate 2 members to join our Run Committee in the planning
We will hold our next meeting today, Wednesday 6.30 pm at the Nairobi Club. Following our discussions during the Presidents' meeting last Saturday, another meeting will be held at the Parklands Club next week to benefit from their experience. The date and time will be provided once I concretise with President Robert.
Kindly support us to Make Dreams Real in malaria prone areas, by saving lives. We look forward to your unreserved participation.
Nicholas O. Oguge, PhD, President
