Started in 2001, Cura Rotary Community Corps is a model project, formally registered with Rotary International. Multiple projects and activities are ongoing in this holistic community development initiative. Among the components are the Cura Rotary Home (where 50 children orphaned by AIDS are lovingly nurtured, inlcuding regarding sponsorship); the strengthening of the primary school and now the building of a secondary school; a community resource centre with a library and a computer lab; a community clinic; and income generating projects such as tissue culture banana farming and beekeeping.

The Rotary Club of Nairobi is working with communities in Mathare and Huruma slums to help alleviate poverty and address health issues. Through the Rotary Community Corps (RCC), a comprehensive programme where residents are mentored by Rotarians and grassroot and home grown solutions for the urban are explored. Through this partnership, Rotary has set in place the partnership for an HIV free generation in the slums.
