The Rotary Club of Nairobi, under the constant stewardship of Honorary Rotarian Dr. Mukesh Joshi, the presidents of the club and its members, have run the Kenya Rural Blindness Eradication Project since its inception in 1985.

The project was initiated in partnership with the Rotary Club of Marburg-Schloss (Germany) and other Rotary clubs from Belgium and the Netherlands. This initiative aims to eradicate blindness across the country by performing cataract surgeries and corneal transplants on patients remotely in rural areas.
