INTERACTION FOR PEACE

This Global Grant was implemented by Children Peace Initiative Kenya and Interaction For Peace (USA) as cooperating organizations and funded by Rotary International in partnership with Rotary Club of Nairobi and Rotary Club Of La Mesa Sunrise as host Rotary clubs.

The grant was implemented in phases. The first phase included the training of Children Peace Initiative Kenya staff in Nairobi and San Diego respectively. 5 CPI Kenya staff led by Rotarian Sudesh Walia from Rotary Club of Nairobi traveled to San Diego for a 10 days intensive training. The training included school visitations to give the participants an opportunity to interact with the pupils and the teachers who have been implementing Interactions for Peace Program in San Diego for many years. The visit was meant to provide hands on experience to CPI Kenya team so as to empower them to journey with the teachers from schools selected for training in Kenya. The first interactions for peace training for Kenyan teachers took place in November – December 2015.

A total of 22 teachers from 11 schools attended interaction for peace foundation level training that took place for 5 days from 30th November2015 – 4th December 2015 at Oshwal Junior High School. The teachers were equipped with the skills necessary to implement the program in their schools. At the end of the training each teacher was given a training manual.
