Rotarians gathered on February 10, 2018 to have a fun evening at the cinemas for the premiere of Padman to raise funds for a good cause. In the past, we held many such movie events, but this one was the first movie fundraising event held for few years. Padman is a movie about an individual who was/is passionate about a cause – health and hygiene.

Rotary Club of Nairobi (RCN) carries out several community and other projects. ‘Clean water and Sanitation’ is one of 6 of Rotary’s areas of focus and during the interval, visuals of several Club projects were shown and this raised awareness for several projects.

The proceeds of this event will contribute toward a sanitation/ablution block to be built at Jamhuri Primary School. Sanitation and access to toilets/clean water is absolutely vital!

RCN, in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Nairobi Central and the HEART Foundation, have over the years carried out other projects, such as the Sanitary Pad Project called *A  GIRL A K* meaning to provide school-going girls with a year’s supply of sanitary pads for just Kshs 1,000 (USD 10). So far, the project has allowed over 4,300 girls to have a full year’s supply of sanitary pads which enabled them to attend school during their monthly cycle.
